Materials:

The first photo shows everything
you need to construct this fly(except a fine red sharpie) to draw
in the gills. The second photo shows how to prepare the two sizes
of sili skin for mass production. In this case I’m using
a size 6 Mustad Signature Tarpon(C68S SS).
Any short or standard hook will suffice. You should expect to
get at least 2 dozen flies from 1 pack of sili skin for hook sizes
2 and smaller. Make sure you use sharp scissors for this work.

Step 1
Apply one complete wrap of sili skin on the straight part of the shank
leaving a bit of space between the the sili skin and the hook eye (photo
3).

Step 2
Tie in a sparse amount of flash or flash/fiber blend just in front of
the sili skin using ultra fine mono, then whip finish(that's the only
tying step!). (Photos 4 & 5)

Step 3
Use a length of sili skin(mother of pearl) that will extend slightly
behind the bend of the hook and will be wide enough to fold over the
pattern. Anchor the front-center of the sili skin just behind the eye
with a slight press of the finger. Hold the material with one hand and
let the sili skin "fall" over the top of the material. Fold
it over such that it meets under the belly and sticks to itself. Press
the sili skin together then trim the excess from the front, then back
and pull away the excess.(Photos 6, 7, & 8)

Step 4
Afix eyes forward and draw in gill marks with red sharpie. Coat eyes
and belly seam with plasti dip. Set aside to dry. (photos 9, 10, &
11)
