Tom
Earnhardt is one of the pioneer fly rodders of the South Atlantic
region. Since the late 1960's Tom has explored the waters around North
Carolina Outer Banks. He began fishing for false albacore with a fly
in the early 1980's and is generally credited with popularizing fly
rodding for albacore in the Carolinas. For the last eight years he
has helped host the annual albacore bash on Harkers Island.
In recent years Tom has also helped pioneer flats' fishing for redfish
in North Carolina.Tom is also no stranger in the country's great striper
waters and the Florida Keys. From king mackerel, to tarpon, to tuna,
to permit and bonito, there are few saltwater fish he has not caught.Tom
is also an accomplished fresh water fly tier and angler who has fished
to many angling destinations around the world.
Tom is a frequent contributor to fly fishing magazines and has written
two books in the last four years, Fly Fishing the Tidewaters and Boats
for Fishermen. Earnhardt is also a sought after speaker and instructor.
Boats for fly fishermen have always been a special passion for him.
Among other things Tom will talk to our club about the important qualities
found in all great fly fishing boats. He will also talk about choosing
and rigging boats for flats, inshore, and ocean waters. Even is you
are a beach bum or jetty jockey, there will be plenty in this program
for every fly rodder. |
