WADERS
Bootfoot styles are preferred. Any good brand
with some kind of warrantee is desired. ALL waders will give you
trouble sooner or later. So protect yourself by buying the quality
product whenever possible.
RAIN PARKA
Many good brands are on the market. Look
for styles that have a couple large pockets for easy access of flies
or tools. A vented hood is great for the fast ride back in the boat.
Breathables are a plus too. Look for extra room in the arms and
underarms for better movement. Drawstrings keep the water out and
you warmer. Some products are NOT made for saltwater so beware and
check with a good salesman for the details. SW zippers and velcro
are ideal. Get the best you can in this product.

SUN GLASSES
Good polarized glasses are a MUST. Having
a back up pair comes in handy too.
FLY BAG AND CONTENTS
Travel light and you'll be glad you did.
Stay away from the oversized and overstuffed models. Too much is
not a good idea here. Make the best out of a small space but forget
nothing, that is the challenge. Don't get the chest styles because
you may find yourself on the jetty and not being able to see down
and in front of you. Take only what you will use. Get
more detail on the Flybag in the "Travelling light" article
on this site.

STRIPPING BASKET
Very Important Accessory! Easy to make by
yourself and cheap too. This
website has instructions for making one. This device keeps the
line from tangling around your feet in the surf or getting in the
rocks on the jetty. Some flylines cost over 50 dollars so protect
it. Get one before you venture out for the first time, it's that
important!
KORKERS/JETTY SPIKES
These are for your safety and you should
NEVER go out on the jetty without them. They can attach to your
bootfoot waders or a designated pair of boots with snaps or shoestrings.
Many people don't like going on the jetty with waders so they buy
boat boots and attach the korkers to the bottoms and use rain gear
for upper water protection. Some use sneakers and shorts, but whatever
is your system the korkers are the most important and please understand
them completely before venturing out on the rocks.
