Capt Gene Quigley began fishing the waters of the
Jersey Coast at the ripe age of 8 years, directly in front of
his house in Sea Girt, NJ. During his early years, Gene spent
every chance he could fishing the Monmouth County surf and Jetties.
By the time Gene was a teenager, he quickly got the "big
game" bug and began working as a mate on his uncle's 53 ft
Hatters sportfisher, "The Tana", in the offshore waters
of the northeast canyons.
Today, Capt. Gene is considered one of the Northeast's
premier fly and light tackle guides. He is the co-owner of Shore
Catch Guide Service based in Manasquan, NJ and spends over 200
days a year guiding his clients for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish,
false albacore, bonito, and big game tuna's. In addition to guiding,
Capt Gene is also an accomplished outdoor writer and seminar circuit
speaker. He contributes regularly to
Fly Fishing in Saltwaters Magazine and The Fisherman Magazine.
He is a featured speaker on the Sport Fishing Magazines "Learn
From the Experts" Seminar Series and sits on the national
pro staff's for St Croix Rod Company, Parker Boats, Yamaha Outboards,
Tibor Reels, Spotters Sun Glasses, Rio Fly Lines, Shimano Reels,
and PowerPro fishing lines. Gene has been a featured guest on
Gary Edwards "Vacations on the Fly" television show
and Mark Crezenzo's "Family Outdoor network".
Capt. Gene is currently the Chairman and Director
of the New Jersey Professional Fly & Light tackle Guides Association
and sits on the Board of Directors for its national organization.
Capt. Gene currently resides in Toms River, NJ with his wife Cecelia
and sons Patrick & Justin.
